| Rush | An installation from the Venus Envy show April 2004, St. Louis. Rush is an argument against feminism and its denouncing of some of womens' classically assigned roles: particularly, that of hostess. While the hostess ultimately bares the burden of the success or failure of her event; in success she may choose success in seemingly unrelated areas as well: she can enrapture her guests with her wit, dazzle them with her mastery of flavor, change their minds with her candor, seduce them with her sense of style. Rush argues that the position of hostess in its modern and classic form is a position of power and influence, and celebrates such with joy of color, light, and texture. | 12 |
