The scene in this painting is my own later impressions, of witnessing a blinding miracle - which I have been told was meeting my guardian angel. On November 1, 2001, I was traveling in Rome when I made a stop at the Chapel of St. Theresa in Ecstasy. It was here, ironically while seeking visual evidence of Bernini's ingenious sky-lighting technique that this vision, which began as a tinkerbell sparkling orange light and grew to overtake all I could see, even with my eyes shut. Though what I actually witnessed was a 12 pointed star spouting fire, its important to consider this painting as a visual representation of both my emotional and visual impressions of the moment.
