Artist Statement gets the big overahul
With the help of an encroaching deadline and a stark revelation, my artist statement has gotten a full-on makeover. This time, the statement references all of my artwork, even Twitterscapes.
The new artist statement reflects all of my work: oil paintings, latex paintings, and Twitterscapes, by referencing drawing attention to a common motivator: my fascination with Infinity. While I have been aware of this fascination since my first pursuits of spirituality, it never felt appropriate to mention; for fear that referencing it as some dangling idea present in my work would hinder its presentation and reference numerous unfortunate under-explained artists’ (or as others know them, “weirdos”) proclamations of their same affinity. What took this attempt further, however, was realizing that Infinity informed a dramatic number of elements in my work: motivation, aesthetic (spirals, pixels) concept - many of these in the form of boundaries, or wondering what might be on the other side of a perceptive stopping point.
I invite you to read my artist statement.
