I'm pleased to announce a new blog in the About section called Rants and Raves. This new blog fills the void of a place to just post random interesting stuff and to cut an extra slice out of my personality for the internet to love. I had previously run a similar blog on myspace called Rant Station that came with quite a few subscribers, though I have all but departed myspace and miss the outlet. I had been tempted to leave my rants to the existing blogs on this site, like Conceptually Driven but naturally they didn't fit there so I needed to find another solution.

Have fun on Rants and Raves and leave me lots of comments!

After a whirlwind Christmas, applications for further Art opportunities, and a change in household dynamics, I'm finally getting back to the website after nearly three weeks. During this time, I added artwork in The Wooden Cow art space, including C-Prints of The Three Graces, The Violinist, and Aquarium. Prints are matted in a complimentary white or off-white mat and frame at 16x20.
In addition to all of this, the studio is moving to Paradise Hills, that's right - my home. This decision to move back to my home comes as a further effort to optimize my work time and schedule. I look forward to having more available soon, including prints, posters, and originals. Tuesday Night Ritual is almost there!

I'm uber-pleased that site development has reached this distance of development. You will find links to the left for the "beta" version of the website. In place now are the Portfolio Section, Current Projects, Conceptually Driven blog, news, and more in Scene, and About - Artist Statement, FAQ's, and more. As I continue to develop, there should be no reason to hide these sections anymore. They are mature enough to show, small enough to grow. I'm glad you're here to see the site at this phase, because you'll love it even more in the future.

This does not mark the end of the development phase, but rather, the Beta version, IE - its live and growing, being tested, but not yet grown enough to call itself complete, ready, or mature. I still have many images to add to the galleries, new galleries to make, sophisticated styling to carry out, and heck, I have the right to change my mind! At some point, the site will be rolling along with new content and not a lot of changes stylistically, structurally, or functionally. This will be version one. Then someday, I'll change the look and feel, add some sections.. that will be version two. You see where I will be going with this.

Again, so glad you can be here to see the site in this phase. Please poke around. Email me with any questions or concerns (contact forms of all kinds coming soon.)

Though I never knew Paul Newman personally, and had never met him, I, just like everyone else in my southern Connecticut town, "knew" of Paul, his charities, and where his house was located. Unlike other stars in the area, his was actually visible from a semi-busy public thoroughfare, and in my travels around Westport would pass it often and just as often would remark to myself that that was Paul Newman's house. It is a dreamy hillside mansion made of white stone, with a stream running down at the bottom, on a private road with tall, windy trees. Its also the place he died. He loved it there - who wouldn't have? His passing almost makes me miss life in Connecticut - almost.

I never really followed Paul's movies much, as his work was so much before my time. But I do remember seeing his face on a tomato sauce jar before most of the rest of the world. He had appropriately chosen our shared upscale community as a test market for "Newman's Own." I remember remarking on how incredibly vain an elderly actor must have been to place his face on the front of a tomato sauce jar in hand-drawn fashion, and admittedly, I was not immediately fond of his green pepper laden sauce, but still the line grew and grew, both in products and distribution, and then I noticed that the whole thing was an engine to fund charities, and at that point, it no longer mattered whose face was on this, but that person clearly had no need for the funding these products would produce, yet had expended more time and energy into the process than an ordinary person is usually able to, for zero return. And then there were his local charities, like the Hole in the Wall Camps where some of his funds, both personal and charitably raised, went into action to truly enrich the community and the lives of children. He lived among people as wealthy as he but was by far the most charitable, the most giving, and most life changing person of the whole community.

From time to time, he could be seen buying his own groceries at the Westport Stop and Shop or directing theatrical productions at the Westport County Playhouse. He was as accessible as any person not of his stature, and as such never lead a celebrity existence, except for the benefit of others. In this place where I grew up, I know he will be missed as that man that everybody is proud to live around, hear about, and catch a glimpse of. Even Martha Stewart (who is also a mutual neighbor of a you-guessed-it reputation) liked him and kept tabs on him. Robert Redford said that "My life _ and country _ are better for [Paul's] being in it." On a smaller scale, so was Fairfield County, and my home town. Thank you, Paul, for everything you did.

So this is basically where I'm at- the site is pretty well built, but not quite complete. As I mash through the construction process, I'm still coming up with basic content, new feature ideas, and bug fixes. I would still like you to see it at this stage though, because it does look dern cool. So here it is:

Portfolio: The Portfolio Section
Portfolio: The Projects Section

Thank you and Namaste. Come back and see me soon.
